We are proud to say that our senior services have kept pace with the growth in the senior population, offering a full array of assistance and enrichment programs.

  The Senior Citizen's Foundation of Nevada County has established a Senior Center at the Nevada County Fairgrounds with a year-round schedule. The High Noon Lunch program provides delicious and nutritious hot meals five days a week at the center, and an active group of volunteers work for the home-delivered meals program.

  Aerobic exercise programs and weight training sessions are choices on the physical fitness schedule there. Support groups for families coping with illnesses or other complications of aging meet regularly. Other activities at the center include, but are not limited to, bridge and pinochle card groups, travel clubs and special interest activity groups on everything from creative writing to bingo.

  Assisted transportation services are available through the local bus service, the Gold Country Stage. The Gold Country Telecare provides speciallyu equipped vans to transport those seriors needing more personalized services.

  Another important senior assistant project is the Larry G. Lutz Center Adult Day Care. This wonderful service helps families and sufferers of Alzheimers, Parkinson's, stroke or other debilitating illnesses. It provides a stimulating day care program combined with skilled nursing and other health care services.

  In addition to these non-profit services, several private corporations in the area offer housing options such as assisted living centers, retirement apartments and nursing home care.
